From President’s Desk……
Rajyalakshmi
Its two years I have been allied with Delhi Foundation of Deaf Women and have seen them performing under immense lack of any support from government. These deaf ladies have been working and handling all the activities carried in their Institute for Deaf without any funds and grants since last 2 years. The teachers here have not been even paid for many months but still they all are together moving ahead with their motto “Help Them To Help Themselves”. As wisely said by HELEN KELLER- “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much” so when these deaf women are so adamant and hard working, then why not to step forward and join them. Being the President of this organization I would request government funding agencies to help such organizations which are truly working for rehabilitating underprivileged deaf women. The VII National Conference & III Cultural Festival of India for Deaf Women is the evidence of their confidence and unity. I am really surprised to see deaf women from 12 states joined together and participated in this National event. The event is an eye-opener for all other normal hearing people to learn that ‘Where there is a Will there is a Way’. A person can succeed at almost anything for which he has unlimited enthusiasm. It was very difficult to organize this big event but not impossible for these courageous deaf women. The National Conference helped to know about various schemes available for betterment of deaf women whereas the grand show of different culture was wonderful it was amazing to see the deaf girls dancing on the beats without hearing them. The overall concept of the event was great and encouraging. Being here is a very good experience for me too. I wish them all the success to persist with same liveliness and interest to achieve their aim.
